Welcome to Vegetarian for Life

Vegetarian for Life Limited (VfL) is a new charity, which was formed during the second half of 2007 and launched in May 2008.

VfL’s Vision is to improve standards of catering for older vegetarians and vegans throughout the UK

To achieve this Vision, VfL aims to:

  • raise the standards of catering for older vegetarians and vegans in care homes, retirement schemes,  hospitals and other services catering for older people
  • foster understanding of the dietary needs of older vegetarians and vegan
  • try to ensure ethically acceptable and nutritionally balanced meals are available for all older vegetarians and vegans

Our activities include the publication of Catering Guides and operating the VfL – UK List of vegetarian-friendly care homes and other caterers for older people – see the About Us and UK List pages.

Rose Elliot

I am delighted to be Patron of Vegetarian for Life - an exciting new charity which supports older vegetarians and vegans, and those who care for them. Vegetarianism is close to my heart, and I think it’s important that people who have made this compassionate and ‘green’ lifestyle choice are themselves cared for ethically in their later years. VfL sets out to help care providers do this in these resource-stretched times.
